School dilemma
It has been a roller coaster ride since the Board of HUSD approved Shadow Ridge's move to the new location on Main Street. This means I have to move Cinzia to a new school because Kingston is 20 minutes out of the way and their current school time starts later. It will not work anymore. I have 6 months to prepare for the big school move.
Topaz. Jeannie highly recommended Topaz, one of the best schools in the district. Even Mr. Skinner has praises for it. The waiting list is long, but Jeannie said I could be placed on top of the list because an employee of the district. It is only up to 6th grade, but most of the 6th graders there go to Hesperia Junior High, a nearby school. There will be continuity for Cinzia. I called to inquire, but they told me they have a spot NOW...in 5th grade, not 6th grade next school year! Cinzia was so mad when I told her she is moving in a few days. They wear uniforms, and their schedule is 7:30 to 1:45, a little earlier than my work schedule. I had to make arrangements with their after-school program, but when I called them, they are full. So the sudden plan to move would not work. (Topaz is 5-minute drive from my new school site.)
Pathways for College. Our SPED teacher recommended it. It is K-8, so if Cinzia stays there, she will have the same friends for 3 years until 8th grade. I went there to get a packet and submit it days later. Their daily schedule is perfect for me and Cinzia, except Mondays. They end at 12:30 pm. Cinzia has to stay at after-school program. It is free, and I hope we get in. Before we left, the lady-in-charge told me that evaluation will be in July. Oh, great, that will not work. We will not be here the whole day of July! Ugh. (PC is less than a mile from my new school site.)
Joshua Circle or Mission Crest, two schools that are also close to the new location. I have yet to explore them.
We shall see. I wish Cinzia could still stay at Kingston for another year in 6th grade, but the logistics will not allow it anymore.
